Whoever saw singer/ songwriter/performer Robbie Gil in a live show- got caught in the magic.
He’s the kind of singer/songwriter you want to tell all your friends about, wishing to say one day: “Robbie Gil? I saw him already ten years ago on a small stage in Manhattan. He rocked! “.
These seem to be good reasons for being rewarded as one of the Best Emerging Artists, by the National Songwriter Hall of Fame, at 2009.
So who is Robbie Gil?
Robbie Gil is a singer/songwriter/performer based out of New York City, who grew up in Fairfield County, Connecticut. His singing style reminds of Bruce Springsteen, Cat Stevens, Joe Cocker, Roger Daltry and Ray Lamontagne.
When you come to a show- be prepared! Robbie is known for a very energetic stage presence that will make you want to hear more!
His 2nd full-length album, “Save Yourself”, deals with going through darkness and despair and finding one’s way to a lighter, healthier, happier life.
In New York, Robbie and his band (Greg Mayo, Patrick Firth, Brian Killeen and Zach Jones) have had quite a bit of success and been playing at The Living Room, Bitter End and Mercury Lounge.
He also got a residency at Rockwood Music Hall, which been drawing fairly large crowds on a regular basis.
That’s the place where he has recently performed his “Quasi Retirement Show”, on July 31st, 2015.
Has he really retired?
Well, just for a while, as he & his wife, Abigail, welcomed a Baby!
He has announced to his Facebook fans that his music will be put on hiatus after the baby for a little while.
On March 2017, Robbie Gil band went on a Kickstarter campaign, to complete their double vinyl album of Rock, Folk, and Americana music entitled, “Happy?”
